De Verwater family herewith announces that on Wednesday evening  January 11th, 2012 Mr. Aad Verwater sr. passed away in rest and surrounded by his family.

As the son of the founder, Aad Verwater was at the starting point of the current Verwater organization. In the 90’s he handed over the Verwater Companies to his sons. But he has never lost sight of the company. Aad Verwater followed all the developments that helped realize the company’s 90th anniversary, this year. An anniversary which he has contributed to for over 40 years. Under his management in the 60’s the unique jacking system of Verwater was introduced across the boarders and many oceans. In 1990 he received the royal Dutch order for knighthood “Ridder in de Orde van Oranje-Nassau”. The honor was awarded to him for his 40 years of employment with the company, for his achievements as an entrepreneur and member of various committees and boards of contractor associations, school board, church council and youth development in Vlaardingen, The Netherlands.

With Aad Verwater we lose an remarkable personality who has made a big mark on the post-war developments in the Rotterdam and global petrochemical industry. Aad Verwater reached the age of 86 years.
